چکیده

A laser-based in-situ spectrometer using near infrared diode laser at 767 and 770 nm to detect potassium atoms in high-temperature environments is described. The device was used to investigate the thermal dissociation of KCl and to monitor K behind the flue gas filter (300mm diameter, 1000°C) of a 250kW-coal combustor, without the necessity of error prone gas sampling. With a response time of 2 s we achieved detection sensitivities in the order of 10 atoms/cm. The spectrometer should therefore be fast and sensitive enough to detect a malfunction of the flue gas filters via the release of potassium atoms.

Field detection of CO and CH4 by NIR 2f modulation laser spectroscopy

A novel compact fiber-coupled NIR system based on a DFB diode laser source is employed as a portable and sensitive gas sensor for trace detection of combustion pollutant molecules. We demonstrate the performance of such an NIR gas sensor by tracing the absorption lines of CO and CH4 using 2f-WMS technique at moderate temperature of T ~ 600°C in the recuperator channel of an industrial furnace...

Two-line atomic fluorescence flame thermometry using diode lasers

This paper reports on the first application of diode laser based LIF for pointwise temperature measurements in flames. The technique is based on two-line atomic fluorescence (TLAF) thermometry of indium atoms seeded at trace levels into the flame. Two novel extended cavity diode laser systems (ECDLs) were developed, providing tunable single-mode radiation around 410 and 451 nm, respectively, to...

A diode laser based in situ absorption spectrometer is presented for the simultaneous detection of CO (1560nm), water (813nm) and the gas temperature within the combustion chamber of a 600MW lignite-fired power-plant. A fractional absorption resolution better than 10 equivalent to a few hundred ppmV CO could be demonstrated with a 30 sec time response. ? 2000 Optical Society of America OCIS cod...

Comparison of Soft Tissue Thermal Changes Induced by Three Types of Diode Lasers at 810, 940, and 980nm Wavelengths

Background and Aim: Diode laser is a great choice for soft tissue surgery. The diode laser is partially absorbed by hard dental tissues, making it safe for soft tissue surgery. This study aimed to compare the tissue thermal changes induced by three types of diode lasers at 810, 940, and 980nm wavelengths. Materials and Methods: In this in-vitro experimental study, using a diode laser device (c...

Nir-diode Laser Based In-situ Measurement of Molecular Oxygen in Full-scale Fire Suppression Tests

The accurate measurement of oxygen is essential to evaluate the effectiveness of tire suppressant agents and to model the dynamics of the suppression process. We employed tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) at 760nm to detect molecular oxygen. This technique has sensitivity to oxygen, minimal interference from other species, and capability of in-situ operation. Measurements were...
